How do I verify what commodity codes have been saved to my account?
Log into your VSS account and select the Commodities tab.Can I add and delete commodity codes from my account at any time?
Yes, you can add and delete commodity codes from your account at any time. Please be aware that deleting commodity codes will prevent you from getting an email alert when a solicitation using one of those commodity codes is published.Who determines what commodity code(s) will be used when a solicitation is published?
When posting their solicitation, the Buyer will decide which commodity code(s) to use. For more information about a specific solicitation, you will need to contact the Buyer.What is the difference between adding a 3-digit commodity code versus a 5-digit commodity code?
You will receive email alerts for a given commodity if you enter its 5-digit commodity code (for instance, 42533 Drafting Plan and Map Files, Metal). If you add a 3-digit commodity code then you will receive email notifications for various Commodity Descriptions that begin with the first 3 digits of a commodity code.
The buyer has the option to send email notifications of solicitation to vendors listed for commodity codes other than the ones for which they are currently solicited. This happens when the buyer wishes to expand the potential audience for the solicitation.What is the benefit of adding commodity codes to my account?
Commodity codes drive email notifications to be sent to a vendor when a solicitation is published using one of the commodity codes that are saved on the vendor account. The vendor won't be notified via email when a solicitation is posted using a specific commodity code(s) if none are added.
