Process
These instructions describe the steps to resolve common ColoradoVSS login credential errors.
Error: User Authentication Failed. Invalid User Name/Password combination.
Resolution: You will want to make sure that you’re entering both the User ID and password correctly. Please keep in mind that both User Id and password are case sensitive. If you are correctly entering your User ID, and still seeing this error, use the Forgot Password? feature located on the VSS homepage to have a temporary password issued. When using the Forgot Password feature, if you enter your User ID and you receiving the same error, you will want to double check that you’re entering your User ID correctly.
Example:
If the User ID at Registration was VSSTESTVENDOR You must enter the User ID exactly like this, to avoid any error and because the User ID is case sensitive. If you were to enter something other than what is registered such as VSSTESTVENDOR You will see an error.
Error: The User ID entered is already taken by another user. Please choose a new User ID to continue.
The Cannot Add New User error usually means the User ID you are creating is taken.
Resolution: To resolve this error you may want to try adding a number or symbol to the User ID.
Error: Password change failed. The password does not meet the criteria.
The Password Error usually means you will need to check the password you have selected.
Resolution: You will want to make sure that your password includes the following:
Minimum of nine characters long
One capital and one lowercase letter
One number
Error: Your user ID is locked. Please contact your security Administrator.
Your user ID is locked error means that your VSS User ID has been locked for security purposes after 3 unsuccessful login attempts.
Resolution: You will want to contact the ColoradoVSS Support Center at vsshelp@state.co.us. When contacting the Support Center please provide the Federal Tax ID and Legal Business Name of the company. To avoid this error in the future, you will want to use the Forgot Password feature located on the VSS homepage after the second unsuccessful login attempt.
